Addicted with Mr. Darcy
Last Friday, I was supposed to shop for new clothes or shoes. I went home with four books from National Bookstore!
What happened? Well, no blouse nor shoes from St. Francis Square caught my fancy. And while going to Megamall, I nonchalantly told my officemate, Ate Leony, to drop by National Bookstore first before looking into different boutiques there. We never got to do the latter. Hehehe.
Maybe out of frustration of not being able to get new clothes nor shoes, I've indulged myself with the books I've found. I first saw the book "Mr. Darcy's Diary". And then found the book "Pemberley (or Pride and Prejudice continued)". In this post, 'outdated kwentos', I've mentioned the books I've recommended which were all about Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. That could've started my deep interest (or addiction?) with the character from 'Pride and Prejudice' by Jane Austen. Holding onto the two books, I've still browsed thru the shelves and looked for anything that will interest me. I've pondered on getting another Judith McNaught's, but, decided I've had too much and now wanted another. Unfortunately, there's no new John Grisham paperback, which I could have immediately purchased, without any question. And then I saw the books of Sophie Kinsella. I haven't read any of the Shopaholics series so I picked up "The Undomestic Goddess". And I didn't stop from checking the other shelves. Hehehe. I thought of looking for something 'intellectual'. I found the book "Philosophy Made Simple". Looked good from an unfamiliar author. At first, I decided to get the first three. I was really surprised when I've noticed the big discount while the cashier was punching them in. Check this out:
Mr. Darcy's Diary: Orig. price (OP) = 315; Discounted price (DP) = 252 (20% off)
Pemberley: OP = 619; DP = 371.50 (40% off)
Undomestic Goddess: OP = 259; DP = 207.25 (20% off)
Because of this, I got the book I've left behind and had it checked in the Customer's Service for the DP. And I just couldn't not buy it! The OP of "Philosophy Made Simple" = 589. And now the DP!!!! Ta-dan!!! = 147.25!!! A whopping 75% off! Even the saleslady was surprised.
So these are my new purchases...which I cannot wear. Hehehehe....But made me smile. I'm now on my 2nd book! c",)
Oh, before I fail to mention. I've thought of texting Elaine to inform her of the new Darcy books. I believe I made her smile with my message coz she's very grateful with her replies. Not failing to mention that Darcy's the man of her dreams. I smiled to myself and thought, I very well know how she feels about "The Man". c",)
